Getting to Know Dr. Caitlin Morin

VPFW’s newest OB/GYN, Dr. Caitlin Morin, has been seeing patients at our Saint Francis and Prince George offices since the Fall, and we love having her as part of the VPFW family!

We recently had the chance to ask Dr. Morin a little more about herself, from what she loves about being an OB/GYN at VPFW to her favorite TV show and Richmond restaurant. Hope you enjoy getting to know Dr. Morin as much as we have!

How did you decide to be an OB/GYN?

I knew I wanted to be an Ob/Gyn after delivering my first baby in medical school. Watching parents meet their new baby never gets old! I also love that I can be in the clinic, in the operating room and on Labor and Delivery all in one day.

I truly enjoy building trusting relationships with patients through a non-judgmental and individualized approach. I hope I can empower women to learn about their bodies through education so that they can take an active part in making the best health decisions for themselves.

Why did you want to work for VPFW?

I wanted to work for VPFW because I was impressed with the collegial nature of the entire healthcare team and how the practice values the patient-doctor relationship.

I’m also a native of southwest Virginia and am excited to be back in the area and closer to family!

What’s been the best thing about working at VPFW so far?

Every day when I come to work, I feel like I get to hang out with a bunch of my friends. Every single person at VPFW has been so warm and welcoming. I’ve also been so impressed with the amazing women of the Richmond area that I get to meet and learn about each day– I feel so lucky to be a part of this community.

What are your special interests in the OB/GYN field?

At the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, I discovered a particular interest in abnormal uterine bleeding and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. My other expertise includes contraception counseling and sexual dysfunction.

What do you like to do when you’re not seeing patients or delivering babies?

In my free time I enjoy cooking, running, reading, traveling, and discovering all the amazing restaurants Richmond has to offer.

Favorite TV Show?

My guilty pleasure is reality TV, especially Survivor and The Real Housewives!

What music are you listening to right now?

I still can’t seem to get enough of Taylor Swift’s Midnight album. The songs get better every time I listen!

Favorite restaurant in Richmond?

Heritage – it is close to where I live so it’s been our “go-to” spot lately. The menu changes weekly, they use lots of local ingredients and have fabulous cocktails.

What’s a good book to cozy up and read this winter?

I recently finished Where the Crawdad’s Sing. It’s got a little bit of everything– murder mystery, a love story, and lots of drama!
