Farewell, Dr. Mark Hyde

Beloved VPFW president Dr. Mark Hyde has retired after 29 and a half years at Virginia Physicians for Women.

Dr. Mark Hyde has been an OB/GYN at Virginia Physicians for Women since before it was called Virginia Physicians for Women. After joining the Johnston-Willis office of the practice (then Chippenham OB-GYN Associates) in 1992, Dr. Hyde delivered excellent OB/GYN care with an impeccable bedside manner for the next 29 and a half years. As president of the practice for his final four, he also offered the leadership and vision the practice needed to continue growing and thriving as Richmond’s best OB/GYN.

On December 31, 2022, Dr. Hyde retired to sail the Caribbean with his wife.

Dr. Hyde delivered countless babies and helped countless women improve their quality of life during his tenure at VPFW, but they would argue he made them each feel as if they were his only patient. He was awarded first place in Our Health Magazine’s Best Bedside Manner Awards in 2016 and 2017 and was named one of Richmond Magazine’s Top Docs in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

While serving as president of VPFW since January 2019, Dr. Hyde saw the practice through the openings of its new Prince George office and new Koger Center headquarters building as well as the expansion of VPFW’s mammography and ultrasound services, Surgery Center, and Urogynecology Center. Under his leadership, VPFW was voted Best OB/GYN in Richmond in both 2021 and 2022.

The VPFW family is incredibly grateful for Dr. Hyde’s service, always holding the practice to the highest standard of care. He left a great impact on so many patients as well as all the members of the VPFW family who worked with him throughout his career. We thank Dr. Hyde for his devotion to the women of central Virginia and to our ever-growing practice, and we look forward to hearing about his travels!
