Tdap FAQ’s For Pregnant Women
What is Tdap?
The Tdap vaccine is used to prevent tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis.
Is the Tdap vaccine safe for pregnant women?
Yes. All women should get the Tdap shot in the third trimester, preferably between 28 and 36 weeks. There are no theoretical or proven concerns about the safety of the Tdap vaccine during pregnancy.
I received a Tdap shot during a previous pregnancy. Do I need another one?
All pregnant women should get a Tdap vaccine shot during each pregnancy during the recommended timeframe in order to maximize antibodies present in the newborn at birth.
Can I get the flu shot and Tdap shot at the same time?
Yes. You can get more than one vaccine in the same visit.
