Meet Dr. Pinkerton

Dr. Pinkerton became interested in Ob/Gyn after recognizing the full breadth of the specialty, which allows an amazing mix of surgery, deliveries, and clinical care. However, after working as a sexual assault and domestic violence crisis line volunteer during medical training, she realized that the most important aspect of her chosen field was forming deep, life-long relationships with her patients. Dr. Pinkerton treasures those relationships and understands that the ability to care for women throughout their whole lives is a privilege. For this reason, she emphasizes patient-centered care in her practice. Through counseling and thorough discussion of all the options, Dr. Pinkerton empowers women to choose an individualized management plan that is best for them. 

Dr. Pinkerton was born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia, attended college at Emory University, and completed medical training at Wake Forest School of Medicine. During her residency at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond stole her heart and she decided she never wanted to leave! In her first interaction with VPFW, Dr. Pinkerton was struck by the collegiality and welcoming atmosphere. As she learned more about the practice, she came to appreciate the clear communication, transparency, and prioritization of the patient-physician relationship – one of the best parts of her job!

A prior soccer player and rowing coxswain, in her free time, you can now find Dr. Pinkerton running by the river, walking her dogs, playing board games, and reading.
