Meet Dr. Lucas

Kathryn Lucas, MD is a Virginia native, born and raised in beautiful Alexandria. After completing her undergraduate education at the University of South Carolina, she went on to receive her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Greenville, SC. There she was recognized for her clinical achievements and inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies.

Dr. Lucas completed her residency training at The George Washington University in Washington, DC, where she was active in the Resident Wellness and Simulation Training committees. At GW, Dr. Lucas received multiple awards including the distinction of the Society for Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology (SASCOG) Resident Award.

Dr. Lucas’ interest in Obstetrics and Gynecology stems from the unique ability to create long-term relationships with her patients at all stages throughout their lifetime. Dr. Lucas deeply appreciates how the field of OB/GYN emphasizes both evidence-based and patient-centered care, and warmly invites her patients to partner with her in their healthcare decisions. She enjoys interacting with patients and their families from diverse backgrounds and is able to converse in medical Spanish.

Dr. Lucas was excited to join VPFW because of the practice’s outstanding reputation in the surrounding communities and its wonderfully supportive environment. She is grateful to work alongside so many gifted providers, including some fellow George Washington OB/GYN alumni!

Outside of caring for her women’s health patients and delivering babies, Dr. Lucas enjoys staying active – running, swimming, biking, hiking – as well as spending time with her family and friends. Her absolute favorite place to be is on the beach, and she takes every opportunity she can to enjoy the sunshine and water!
