Meet Dr. Wren

Dr. Wren’s goal every day is to listen and connect with his patients to help make their lives a little better. As an OBGYN, he feels privileged to care for women at some of the most important points of their lives. By combining listening, counseling, medication, and surgery, he loves that he can offer individualized treatment options that meet his patients’ needs.

Dr. Wren comes to VPFW from the United States Navy where he finished 8 years of active duty service as an OB/GYN. He is now very excited to bring that experience into private practice. Dr. Wren is honored to join a VPFW team that puts patient experiences first. After being away from Richmond since he was in medical school, he and his family are happy to call this wonderful city home again.

Dr. Wren was born in Richmond and grew up in the Short Pump area, where he went to Godwin High School. He majored in Chemistry at the University of Virginia and was a varsity swimmer all four years. He served as team captain his 4th year. Dr. Wren graduated from UVA with distinction in 2010 and returned to Richmond to attend the Medical College of Virginia (VCU) on a Navy scholarship.

While at MCV, Dr. Wren served as student government president. He graduated in 2014 and was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the US Navy. During his residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Dr. Wren served as the Chief Administrative Resident and won several awards: AAGL Award for Excellence in Minimally Invasive Surgery, AUGS Award for Excellence in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Academic Award (twice), and Intern of the Year.

After graduation, Dr. Wren served two years as a staff OB/GYN at Robert Bush Naval Hospital in Twentynine Palms, CA and then 2 years at the Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC. He served as the Department Head of OB/GYN while in Twentynine Palms and was promoted to Lieutenant Commander. At Camp Lejeune, he taught family medicine residents and was the leader of the surgical rotation for OB/GYN residents.

Outside of work, Dr. Wren enjoys swimming, running, and reading fiction and non-fiction. He and his wife have two young boys. Together as a family, they enjoy exploring parks, museums, and new restaurants in Richmond.
