On September 28, Virginia Physicians for Women was honored to hold our Women’s Health Advocacy Roundtable, an important conversation with several VPFW providers and members of the Virginia House of Delegates on the state of women’s health and maternal health and the concerns impacting women and families across the Commonwealth.
VPFW believes it is essential for healthcare providers to be part of this conversation. Sharing our clinical perspective helps highlight the gaps that must be addressed for patients to get the care and support they need. We appreciate the opportunity to learn alongside these representatives and help drive solutions.
“Many thanks to Delegates Cousins, Mehta, Nivar, and Willett for taking the time to meet with our practice,” shared Dr. Garrett Wren. “We had a constructive discussion about the unique challenges facing maternal and fetal health in our region. I hope that these types of discussions lead to better access and quality of care for women across central Virginia.”
Dr. Stephen Pound added, “I can’t thank our delegates enough for taking time out of their busy lives to engage physicians in a meaningful conversation about the health of our community. We had a wonderful discussion. I can’t speak for everyone, but personally sharing my perspective and hearing other people share theirs helped to shape my own beliefs. I felt so fortunate to be a part of the event and left feeling hopeful for the future.”
VPFW is grateful for the opportunity to have a seat at the table and proud to advocate for policies that will improve women’s health care, access to that care, and the support that women, mothers, and families in our community need.
