We apologize! Our phone lines have been very tied up this summer due to the closure of Richmond Women’s Specialists and most of their patients transferring to VPFW at the same time. While we’ve hired additional call center staff and are in the process of training them, we want to remind you that there’s more than one way to contact VPFW! We can be much more efficient at meeting your needs if you choose to use other forms of communication instead of calling.
Use the Patient Portal
From requesting appointments to messaging directly with your provider, there’s so much you can do with the patient portal – without picking up the phone! The portal pulls your medical information directly from your electronic medical record so you can see all the details about your health history. Additionally, you can send questions to your doctor, request an appointment or prescription refill, see upcoming appointment times, or check test results as they become available. You can even pay your bill!
The patient portal is secure and easy – you just need to get your myhealthrecord.com account set up. To get started, you will need to email firstname.lastname@example.org to ask for login information. Once your account is set up, you’ll be able to skip the phone line and log in at any time to safely communicate with VPFW about your health care.
If it’s been a while since you last logged in, it’s definitely worth checking out to stay up-to-date on your health! Feel free to email us at email@example.com if you need a password reset.
Set an Appointment at VPFW.com
If you just need an appointment that’s not urgent, you can avoid the phone wait times by filling out the Set an Appointment form online at vpfw.com. You can specify a date, time, location, and/or provider. We strive to get back to you in one business day to confirm the details.
Talk to a Phone Nurse
If you have a medical question, want some guidance or reassurance, or aren’t sure if you need to be seen by a provider, call us at 804-897-2100 and press 2 to bypass the call center and be connected directly with a VPFW phone advice nurse. Our phone nurses are seasoned OB/GYN provider nurses who have heard it all – and they’re happy to help you when you need guidance or assistance. They can also help you with prescription refills.
You can also email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. This option is best if you need patient portal access or have a non-medical reason for reaching out. We’ll make sure your email gets to the appropriate staff member.
Call Our On-Call Doctors After Hours
The call center hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Thursday, and 8:30-am to 4pm on Fridays; but that doesn’t mean you can’t reach us if you go into labor or have a medical emergency outside of business hours.
Call us at 804-897-2100 and follow the prompts to reach one of our on-call doctors. They will be paged and will return your call as soon as they can. At VPFW, we’re here when you need us!
