Meet Dr. Hyde

Originally from San Antonio, TX, Dr. Mark Hyde moved to Richmond directly out of residency in 1993.

Being close to both the ocean and mountains, getting to enjoy four distinct seasons, and having the opportunity to explore an increasingly diverse restaurant and arts scene is what keeps Dr. Hyde a happy resident of the Richmond region. Of course, his job as an OB/GYN at VPFW has a lot to do with it too, and his patients are the key component. In fact, after he retired from his general Ob/Gyn practice after 31 years at the end of 2022, and a 6 month sabbatical sailing the Bahamas, he couldn’t quite stay away. Dr. Hyde is currently back at VPFW in a limited capacity performing surgeries for patients who need them.

Dr. Hyde has won first place several times in the OB/GYN category for Our Health Magazine’s Best Bedside Manner Awards—a distinction earned through popular vote. He has always been passionate about connecting and collaborating with his patients to improve their quality of life.

When he’s not busy at work, Dr. Hyde is busy at home. He loves spending time with his wife, whom he says inspires him, and his 2 dogs. He also enjoys traveling, sailing, volunteering with local free clinics, and participating in medical missions in Central America and Southeast Asia.

“He delivered both of my children and my grandchild. He goes above and beyond his required duties each time I see him. He honestly cares about my overall health and has helped me tremendously. I have also had minor surgery with him in the Surgery Center. The attention and bedside manner was absolutely incredible! Everything was explained in great detail and a caring manner. This practice is beyond amazing!” – Julie Gray Adkins, 2017
