What do you like about Richmond?

I spent 4 years in Richmond for medical school and I am excited to return. I love all of the local flavor and am looking forward to everything from the Virginia Wine Expo to The Black Sheep restaurant.

What do you do for fun?

I love to spend time with my family and travel.

What is one thing you never leave home without?

I never leave home without kissing my husband and son goodbye. In addition, my dog, Winston, gets a pat on the back.

How do your patients describe you?

Kind, attentive, understanding.

Why did you choose to practice medicine, and/or your field?

While in medical school, I enjoyed most of my rotations but my two favorites were surgery and medicine. I wanted to choose a specialty that combined the two. In addition, I wanted to pick a career path where I would be happy to wake up and go to work everyday. I love what I do and I am humbled by each that patient allows me to share in her most intimate milestones throughout life.

When you’re craving a snack, what do you reach for?

Braeburn apples and honey peanut butter.

Which women’s health issue(s) are you particularly passionate about, and why?

I am passionate about making sure that women understand each season in their life and helping each of them to optimize their health during that period. I believe that all women should be well informed about their diagnoses, treatment, and management options. I want to work with each patient to come up with a shared plan of care that each patient is comfortable with.

Name something on your “bucket” list.

To go on a safari in South Africa.

What inspires you?

Strong women who are able to balance their many titles on a daily basis.
