Dr. Washington was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended medical school in Richmond and completed her residency in New Jersey. She, her husband, her son, and Schnoodle Winston are excited to be returning to their home away from home in Virginia after completing her residency.
Dr. Washington started her career in healthcare as a radiation therapist, treating cancer patients. While at VCU, she realized she loved the interplay of women’s health, medicine and surgery, and chose to practice obstetrics and gynecology. She is most interested in earning the respect and trust of her patients while providing a relentless focus on their healthcare needs. She has been recognized for her patience and attentiveness.
She enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, traveling and cheering on the North Carolina Tar Heels and Pittsburgh Steelers.

How do your patients describe you?
Kind, attentive, understanding.
Why did you choose to practice medicine, and/or your field?
While in medical school, I enjoyed most of my rotations but my two favorites were surgery and medicine. I wanted to choose a specialty that combined the two. In addition, I wanted to pick a career path where I would be happy to wake up and go to work everyday. I love what I do and I am humbled by each that patient allows me to share in her most intimate milestones throughout life.

Braeburn apples and honey peanut butter.
Which women’s health issue(s) are you particularly passionate about, and why?
I am passionate about making sure that women understand each season in their life and helping each of them to optimize their health during that period. I believe that all women should be well informed about their diagnoses, treatment, and management options. I want to work with each patient to come up with a shared plan of care that each patient is comfortable with.
