Mary Lynn Coble, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

Dr. Coble is a native of Gastonia, North Carolina. She lives in Richmond, Virginia with her husband Will, a cardiologist, and her two children. When not working, Dr. Coble enjoys spending time with her family. She loves to play tennis and enjoys cooking, reading, water sports, snow skiing, and beach trips with her family. She is an avid Clemson football fan and on weekends can usually be found cheering for her son or daughter at an athletic event.

Dr. Coble has particular interest in obstetrical care, management of abnormal Pap smears, sexually transmitted infections, and minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery. She has been named one of America’s Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists by the Consumer’s Research Council of America.

What are some of your favorite things about living here?
Climate, “small-town”, feel in a larger city and the river.

What do you do for fun?
Family stuff, biking, snow skiing, reading and cooking

What 1 thing do you never leave home without?
Lip balm!

How do your patients describe you?
Friendly, honest, caring, I give them time to ask/answer questions.

Why did you choose to practice medicine, and/or your field?
I liked the variety ? surgical field but with continuity and building a relationship with patients.

When you’re craving a snack, what do you reach for?
Chocolate, peanut butter (preferably both!) & cheese

Name something on your “bucket” list.
Hike the Appalachian Trail.

What inspires you?
My children’s laughter.

What hobby/activity do you most enjoy, and why?
Reading and cooking; both because it is relaxing.


If you could add 1 hour to your day, what would you do with it?
Hang out with my family.

What music is on your playlist right now?
Everything from classic rock, 80’s pop, country, hip-hop, alternative, but NOT jazz!

What was your first job, and how old were you at the time?
Summer camp counselor – 18 years old.

What’s your favorite movie or TV show?
Movie: The Shawshank Redemption. TV: Top Chef, Project Runway & Seinfeld.

What was your favorite subject in school?
Science, of course!

If you hadn’t become a doctor, what profession would you have chosen?
Hmm…architect maybe?

What would you like to learn more about?
I love to read about history in general.
