Dr. Diaz grew up in a small town on the Texas coast and moved to Austin, where he trained. He is excited to now call Richmond home and looks forward to experiencing the seasons the east coast has to offer. He is learning how to sail and speak French. He spends his weekends exploring Richmond and the Virginia countryside. He is a diehard Longhorn fan but looks forward to college football in Virginia this fall. He spends time off traveling (often on a whim) and has a knack for getting lost in countries where he doesn’t speak the language.
His professional interests include managing high risk pregnancies and deliveries including multiples and vaginal deliveries after caesarian sections. He enjoys all aspects of gynecology and is particularly interested in minimally invasive surgery including Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery and da Vinci Robotic surgery.

What are you most looking forward to about living here?
I am most looking forward to exploring the historic neighborhoods, meeting new people, and of course the food scene.
What do you do for fun?
Music & Art festivals, Carpentry, Urban Farming, Traveling, Camping & Hiking, and Off-Road adventures in my Jeep.
What 1 thing do you never leave home without?
A playlist and headphones.

Why did you choose to practice medicine, and/or your field?
I chose Obstetrics & Gynecology because of the variety and latitude from delivering babies to routine clinical care. I have a genuine love for caring for women throughout the many stages of their lives. Interacting with my patients captivates. I also enjoy the hustle and the challenge of managing clinic, labor and delivery, and gynecologic surgery simultaneously.

Anything from Chick-Fil-A.
Which women’s health issue(s) are you particularly passionate about, and why?
My professional interests include managing high risk pregnancies and deliveries including diabetes, hypertension, preterm labor, multiples, and vaginal deliveries after caesarian sections. I also enjoy infertility, menopause, and gynecologic surgery. I am particularly interested in minimally invasive surgery including Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery and da Vinci.

I am inspired by the unique opportunity to care for women at their most joyful and vulnerable moments.

Live music, each show is a unique exchange between the artist and the crowd that can’t be replicated.

Reading for pleasure or listening to a new album.

I bussed tables at a hotel restaurant when I was 16 for a summer.
