Ingrid A. Prosser, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

Dr. Prosser grew up in New York, New York. She lives now in Midlothian, Virginia with her husband, David Cifu, M.D., who specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at MCV. She has two daughters, Gabriella (UVA) and Isabelle (James River High School), with whom she loves to spend all of her free time. As a family, they enjoy traveling, bicycling, music and reading. Dr. Prosser is fluent in German.

What are some of your favorite things about living here?
After living in larger cities, I enjoy that Richmond is a small city and that you are always running into people you know.

What do you do for fun?
For fun I enjoy travel, spending time with family and friends, going to the theatre, cooking and yoga.

What 1 thing do you never leave home without?
I never leave home without a small bottle of perfume and Tide-to-Go.

How do your patients describe you?
Patients describe me as kind, attentive, and empathetic.

Why did you choose to practice medicine, and/or your field?
I chose GYN because I love that in this specialty I can know and assist patients with a variety of life transitions and I can know them over a long period of time.

When you’re craving a snack, what do you reach for?
For snack, I would like to say carrots, but usually I want something salty like popcorn.

Which women’s health issue(s) are you particularly passionate about, and why?
I am interested in cancer prevention/early detection, and advances in contraception.

Name something on your “bucket” list.
On my bucket list: spend 6 months living in Europe, get over my fear of heights, and make a friend on every continent.

What inspires you?
Random acts of kindness and anonymous acts of generosity inspire me.

What hobbies do you most enjoy?
Yoga, exercise, reading, & photography.



 

If you could add 1 hour to your day, what would you do with it?
If I had one more hour every day I would do yoga/meditate every day.

What music is on your playlist right now?
Right now my music playlist basically is whatever my 17 and 20 year old daughters have put on there…so it is pretty current! Plus, there is also some classical music that I chose myself.

What was your first job, and how old were you at the time?
My first job was as an assistant bookkeeper at age 16.

What’s your favorite movie or TV show?
Moonstruck, Django Unchained, and Sweet Home Alabama.

Do you have a personal motto?
Be a good person, and see the good in everybody you meet.

What was your favorite subject in school?
Psychology

If you hadn’t become a doctor, what profession would you have chosen?
For a short time, I wanted to be a clown in Ringling Bros Circus.

What would you like to learn more about?
I would like to learn more about cooking, world history, computers and other gadgets.

What’s your favorite thing to eat in a restaurant?
Anything with blue cheese!
